In that case who gives a monkeys? I always hoped it would be Michael Schumacer or Lewis Hamilton or someone. It turns out it was just some guy who can drive.

What was the point of doing that thing where Schumaker revealed himself as the stig? It wasn't even funny and everyone knew it wasn't even him. Did he even do a lap of the track?

It was highly unlikely to be an F1 driver. They have a full calendar and their contracts would not have allowed them to drive for anyone else in any capacity. The filming schedule of Top Gear would have had to be made around the F1 calendar making it very difficult for all.

daffy F1 drivers do loads of promotional work for their sponsors. I've seen Lewis Hamilton doing donuts etc and quite recently I think he drove on a special track at Wembley Stadium.

Molly it was funny to fans of the show, who knew it wasn't ever likely to really be him. That's the humour of the show.

Ben Collins may not be an F1 driver but he was still a race car driver, not just a nobody!

Hadn't heard that ummmm, I think you're right, you can't compete with TG. Not sure all this fuss with the book etc is a clever way to go about it either.

i suspect there are a number of Stigs...different skills for different driving tests...the Ben Collins thing has been out there for years who cares...

theoretically it would have to be either a noname driver (not famous) or a retired driver as current famous drivers would be too busy all year round working to be available for Top Gear
