Highclere House
loved the programme last night. Can't wait for next episode.

Jack - hows your BP now ?
Improving, thanks, Den.
It was its usual 120/80 on Friday.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow :o)
how long are in hospital for ?
Admitted and Op on Friday.........released on Sunday.
(Fingers and other pertinent bits crossed :o))
There was another thread about this last night where some posters were less than impressed. I enjoyed it, though, and I'm rather hard to please. Maggie Smith, as usual, was superb. What intrigued me though was that the actor who played Thomas the footman looked considerably younger than he did when playing Liam Connor in Corrie. Must be the make-up.
need to catch up on this as had power failure half way through!
Wish you all the best for tomorrow Jack xx

sorry madmaz for hijacking your thread.
Sorry Jack, mean't to say for Friday not tomorrow - what a plonker I am. (:0 (
Enjoyed this, bit like Upstairs Downstairs, noticed we had to have the obligatory gay scene! What would Mr Hudson say!!!!
carmalee - how far into the programme did you get a power failure? My mum lives around the corner from me and she said she had a problem with itv. She was worried there was something wrong with her fairly new tv. It wasn`t a power failure exactly, just really bad interference during that programme.
Actually I have to say that it was nothing like Upstairs, Downstairs. I thought that the "Downstairs" scenes showed servants to be far more human in their dealings with each other and more natural, than what earlier portraits would have us believe.
it was just after the new valet tipped the tray of ?cutlery on the floor as he stretched over to pass it to one of the maids.
Did I miss something, or did someone accidentally-on-purpose trip up the lame valet as they were passing?
Highclere House is in Highcliffe near Christchurch Hants
It was actually where peter andre and jordan got married. Hope this doesn't ruin it for you
york310 - my hex is upon you
One bit I noticed they were talking about the lame valet & whether he would go or stay & the footman said "I'd put a tenner on it" (that he would go)
Now we're talking 1912 here, and it was £sp so what was a tenner? in fact we didn't even have a £10 note then. Also their wages were probably that for a year.
Someone I feel didn't do their research properly.

Tenners did exist, although not in common circulation. Are you sure he didn't say, "I'll put a tanner (6d) on it?
Ah-Hah! -- Mike, perhaps he did, you've got me wondering now,Has any one got a clip so we can check.
I won't sleep now til I find out.
