I suppose everyone has their off days but years ago my younger son, in his early years, was very into magic. He belonged to Paul Daniels' fan club and I can remember taking him to a tea party which Paul attended and he had lots of time for everyone. Also one time we went to see Paul in his West End show and afterwards waited at the stage door and had a chat and took photos of him with my boys. There was one particular trick he did that really impressed my son - at random dividing the cards into red and black by someone just calling out red or black and when he flicked the cards over, they were all sorted into the two colours. Anyway, he invited us to come up and see him backstage when we were next in the West End and he would do the trick for us. We then walked off to find a restaurant, couldn't find one and went back the way we'd just come. We bumped into Paul walking along and his comment was ' we can't keep meeting like this'. I thought he was a thoroughly nice, friendly person so I'm surprised at the comment that someone found him 'horrible',
