There is a Joy Division song 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'. Mad World was originally by Tears for Fears, though.

Mad World was indeed by Tears For Fears originally, but the chorus of New Order's True Faith is certainly not a million miles away from Mad World's verse. In fact, it's practically next door. Maybe that's the cause of the confusion. Try 'singing' this in your head (at New Order/Tears For Fears pace, not the Gary Jules funeral march):
