i was literally sobbing for the whole of today, i couldn't even face getting out of bed, the pain was just too much

and me

Yea it was a bit off. How many of those were there? Not many as far as I can remember

Who would have guessed the Simpsons would have been no:1. NOT. That hasn't been funny since season 7.

About time they shelved that show and gave Futurama another chance.

Mr Ben was too politically incorrect, transvestite n'all. Glad he went. Don't really miss him. Tranny.
oh smadge, how could you say that, he never once dressed as a woman, not once, NOT ONCE! besides, in this world of political correctness, its good to see a programme that challenged authority. p.s. do you have a problem with tranvestites? they're just doing what they enjoy and they feel perfectly comfortable they way they are, i suggest you should try and feel confortable around them. p.p.s the simpsons is even more funny now than ever before, its the funniest show on tv, bar none.
I was gutted when I didn't see Mr. Benn in the list. It was my favourite programme when I was growing up.

makes u wonder who votes !

some of the entries ive never even heard of !

no mr benn,no mary,mungo & midge,no bagpuss....

the list is endless

didnt see it but Mr Ben was a fav as a kid
yup, I would have said that a year or two ago.  Now my kids and Nick Junior on Sky subject me to it on a regular bedtime basis.  It was really pants.  Bring on Bod - classic.
No Ulyssess either, or the Mole from Checklosovakia, he was soooooo cute.
ooh me me! I was outrage there was no Mr. Ben..! there was Mr. Mcgoo...grr I hated him ...no Mr.Men! and not even a glimer of Crystal Tipps and Alistair..for shame!.. still Ivor the Engine was in so that kept me happy for a short while ...pssshdcoo..psssshdcoo...psssh...
..oh and no Clangers either...

I never saw this but I'm shocked to hear that Mr.Benn wasn't on the list! One of my favouries! I'm with eupraxia ... Futurama is well undervalued! I prefer it to the Simpsons

And was Pigeon Street on there - occasionaly I still get the tune to "Long Distance Clara" stuck in my head ...

No? .... I'll just get my coat ...

I don't know if any of you voted, but Channel 4 had a list of 100 shows to vote from. It was only possible to vote for the shows in the list.

it may have had something to do with getting the rights to show clips.

The reason that Bagpuss and the clangers weren't in the top 100 cartoons is that they arent cartoons!

Maybe if they made the top 100 childrens TV programmes, they would be included!!

All my faves were absent: Cow & Chicken, I M Weasel, Dexter's Lab, Angry Beavers, Rocko...and Dr Katz which I admit is obscure but I'd still have liked to see it creep in at the bottom.  After seeing tonymclark's revelation it all makes sense.
While 5029 is correct to point out that Bagpuss and The Clangers are not strictly cartoons, neither were some of the entries that were on the list - Chicken Run and Monsters Inc, for example.

I was surprised by the number of Japanese Anime entries - I never knew it was so popular. I'd certainly never heard of most of them - Princess Mononoke, anyone? Mind you, even some of the Western ones were beyond me - what the heck is The Iron Giant?
Just how seriously can you take a list that doesn't include Sir Prancelot?
And no Astro Boy, or Angry Beavers.
Not to mention Hector's House.
