Orlando

Has anyone seen the film ''Orlando". One of the wierdest films I ever saw. 

Is it about a woman, who pretended to be a man, or a transvestite? It didn't make sense all those years ago, and now maybe AB can enlighten me.

Orlando just spontaneously changes sex. It's a complex film about changes and gender politics over 400 years or so. Impossible to define in a nutshell, but stunning to watch. I've watched it six or more times and always get more from it. Tilda Swinton is wonderful and pretty convincing as the male Orlando.

So much simpler than one of those messy operations, and it enables Tilda Swinton to experience life from two different perspectives. Whether that makes 'sense' is another matter; didn't seem to me that it really reached any conclusions, and I thought the ending fell flat.

It's worth reading the book (by Virginia Woolf) to get a different perspective on the film. I love the film, but the book is better.
