spooky play last night, but the ending... can anyone please explain it? (yip - it's a braindead 24hrs for me)

I felt as if I`d wasted 55 mins of my life when it finished. John Hurt didn`t have a lot of script to learn did he.

I'd been looking forward to this as John Hurt was in it. God, it was dismal... I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't understand it.

thanks guys. The short story isn't close to what they showed the other night. I did enjoy it but the last scene left us stumped
