obscure film

When i was a kid i saw a film and I don't know what is was called. Can you help. It was a horror/thriller film about some people on a barge/canal holiday and they pick up a madman (ala Dead Calm). I remember vaguely someone being threatened with a tin opener too. Any ideas?!
