Ellroy Films - Filming the Smith Trilogy

I have long admired LA Confidential . However I recently found an Ellroy collection featuring three stories with Dudley Smith featuring ( LA Confidential is the middle ) . Have there been or likely to be any plans to film the other books especially " The Big Nowhere " ? Given what happens at the end of LA Confidential there might be problems filming the third - mind you that never stopped characters reviving for films such as Blade and Elektra!
