This was a scene from "A-Haunting We Will Go" made in 1942, directed by Alfred Werker. They had left Hal Roach by then and this was produced by Twentieth Century Fox.

Dante the Magician recruits them into his act after they loose their money in the way you describe.

Cheers Golem, I didnt know Dante was in it, as i saw it years ago. I happen to be a amateur magician so i definately have to get it now!  Do you know the best place to find it?

Not one of their best films by a long way, so not easy to find, www.sendit.com/video/item/700000000743100 have it on VHS for 5.00 and it doesn't appear to be on DVD as yet.

Even www.laurelandhardycentral.com have had trouble finding a copy!

Good luck with tracking it down.

Sorry magicbeatle, the first link doesn't work. Go to www.sendit.com and do a title search.
