TV Series Late 70's / early 80's

Does anyone know the title of the tv series screened in the late 70's or early 80's which I think was set during an american war. The only characters I can remember were a Frenchman called Francois Pascinal who married an indian squaw called lipbasket.

I think you probably mean "Centennial" which has a Frenchman called Pasquinel. There's also a friend of his who marries "Clay Basket".
