I remember watching this back in the 1970s before I was married, can't remember who was in it though, might have been a husband and wife acting pair, was it michael williams?

Question Author
yes that's it, I remembered Dorothy Tutin as my mum had the paperback that was issued at the time and she was on the cover
I remember it too dotty really enjoyed it at the time - another one I remember and enjoyed was 'A horseman riding by' - Anyone else remember it?
Question Author
yes i do but that was quite abit later cos i think i was married, was one of the Mcganns in that?
I thought that it was Nigel Havers - I google it - one of the Mcganns was in The Monocled Mutineer
Yes Nigel Havers - 1978
I quite enjoyed it but I have a horrible feeling she won't end up with Joe Astell and I really like Douglas Henshall who plays him. Great acting all round though!
I loved the original 'South Riding' & I am also enjoying this current series. The original one lasted for thirteen episodes but this latest one has been condensed into only three.
I also remember and enjoyed 'A Horseman Riding By' and 'The Flambards'. Does anyone remember the latter\/
Sorry, I meant the LATTER.
Come let me sing you a song of Christina, for she shall have music wherever she goes.
Come let me sing you a song of Christina, of Flambards.......

no.
I used to watch Flambards with my mum................:o)
So is that the end? I really wanted her to go to London and be with Joe.
She couldn't have left Lydia Holly in the lurch though, could she.

But yes, I liked Joe - she should have gone to join him once Lydia got to Oxford.
I remember Flambards!! It was one of my favourite books. I watched the series and I did have them on video but now I don't have a video recorder!! I seem to remember the series ended with the third book, but there was a fourth one where she ends up with Mark.

I never saw A Horseman Riding By but I LOVED R F Delderfield's books. His books "There was a Fair Maid Dwelling" and "The Unjust Skies" were combined to make "Diana" starring Jenny Seagrove. It's never been released on DVD though.

Sorry Dotty, gone right off topic.
