I would not have thought that too terrific McM - or is this tongue-in-cheek bitter sarcasm?
Cars are fine until they conk and need a medical. Not cheap to run these days unfortunately
Do they pass it on condition of you getting those done first?

Mines in for MOT tomorrow :-(
"Passed MOT, but needed replacement windscreen and three new tyres."

So ... failed then?
Question Author
I noticed a small chip on the screen and asked them to check it out together with the tyres. Unfortunately although the chip could have been filled it was in direct eye-line of the driver. One of the tyres was illegal and two others were completely borderline.
So ... failed then?
I can understand why people even take their cars in for an MOT with such obvious failures like tyres.

that said I can't understand anyone that doesn't check their tyres regularly and replace them before they become illegal, it's your life they are keeping safe.
*I can't understand
My car is on the blink too!!

Needs a new camshaft whatever that is and everyone keeps saying why not buy a new car!!
lol @ naz
A new camshaft!!!

Yep, time for a new car! if the cam shaft is that worn there is likely massive wear in the rest of the engine.

I asked the questions before the MOT so it wouldn't fail on those points. The garage is very obliging especially because they supplied the car and have done all servicing since new.
so you had the things done before you took it for an mot?
The full story is rarely as interesting or prone to hilarity as half the story ... I'm disappointed now :-(
Yeah - I'm disappointed in you McM - where's the smutty punchline?
Question Author
Sorry Naz......I'll have the old tyres sent round to you to ease the disappointment.
i'm boring i always take my poor old lady in for a service before she has an mot. want her to feel at her best - all primped and lovely.
LJ - what is that luminous blue thing in your avatar? A radioactive yucca plant?
Question Author
No smutty punchlines salla. Remember I'm in the doo doo with Ed over my avatar.
Chreest - I've seen and read worst things than that on here ;-)

I'm sure you're forgiven by now?!
