On last sundays episode of top gear, they swapped the front bit of a combine harvester and put a snow plough shaped thing in its place.

They also put grit into the bit that shoots the crops out, although it was a bit too powerful.

It only failed because they drove it over ice, i'm sure over roads it'd be fine.

I'm shocked, they've actually made something that works, and is easy to make. Although I'm sure it'd be better on proper land and with a proper driver.

What do you think? And the tractors that already have the ploughs on could be used without being modified . . .

but the bit in the middle that threshes the grain from the straw would be wasted, don't take any notice of it molly, a 'combine' harvester is just that and 'putting grit in' is not the same process
did you miss the bit when they ploughed or attempted to plough a road?

Did they do that later on in the episode (which I'm 20 minutes through on the iplayer)?

i thought they'd finished with it.
The comment after the first part of the article when they say "we will be back with more of that later" should have been a give away (I may have paraphrased slightly)

I didn't catch that bit either by reading this or when it stops and starts and a few seconds here and there are missed out.
And farmers do get asked t help clear snow, but the farmers are expected to take out their own insurance to do it and have to go on a health and safety course every 5 years that costs over £4k a time which the councils won't pay for. so hardly surprising not many farmers bother.

though apparently last year the councils were so desperate they were asking farmers to just go ahead and do it regardless.

Aahhh they're back to it now . . .
World weary sigh.
Question Author
The drivers we'd have would know what they're doing of course rather than James' feeble attempt.
Question Author
For people who aren't used to tractors they did ok, and better than normally on challenges.
Totally fabricated tale as usual.
Oops I've parked a car behind the combine and blow me it's smashed the windows....
The cost of shipping the combine to Norway would more than it's worth.
I really like the show but it's becoming more of a sitcom..what will the three chaps think of next I wonder?
Question Author
They probably built a new one in Norway . . .
The only thing that spoilt it IMO was JC and his stupid bloody flame thrower.
Question Author
That was over the top . . .
