A radio serial from 1957 broadcast on Radio 4 Extra this past week.

Ever since listening to the first episode I now have to get my daily fix which, of course, was the purpose of having as a serial.

They don't make them like this any more... or do they?

They repeat all that sequence of the Paul Temple stuff about every 6 months.
I can remember listening to them on Sunday nights - the whole family would sit quietly and listen to the work of F Durbridge. I found the repeats on Radio 7 a while ago - I still listen to them now - By Timothy!

I've heard one or two of them before. And the complete set of Sherlock Holmes stories with Clive Merrison are worth hearing more than once.

Are they faithful to the book stories? Has anyone read these?

No idea, I don't read fiction.
I remember listening to Paul Temple when I was a kid. Also the Barlows of Beddington.

Was that a serial or a one-off play, Tizzi24?

There seems to be very little about it on the internet other than mentioning Cavalcade of Youth by Jack Beaver.
bibble - it was a serial, on for half an hour every Sunday. I think they were teachers, but can't be sure as I was very young.
It was essential listening when I was a Kid. Do they still use the same theme music?
