Judging by recent posts this Radio section seems to be a bit of a ghost town, but here goes...

I'm looking for suggestions that maybe I can find other than on the BBC Iplayer.
Just to give a flavour of shows I like:

Cabin Pressure, Hut 33, The News Quiz, Sneakipeeks
Readings/plays of Poirot, Wimsey or noir, Chandleresque type crime.
Oh, and sci fi - I recently listened to a pile of 50's 'Jet Morgan' stuff; fantastic.

Any ideas?

Cabin pressure was ruddy hilarious. Right up my street.
I love the news quiz with Sandy too.

Cabin Pressure was good enough for me to actually buy(!) the CDs as present for my Dad.
Married http://www.comedy.co.uk/guide/radio/married/

might interest you - it's been on Radio 4 Extra numerous times but I can't currently find it available so good luck with that
I went to several recordings of Cabin Pressure and even met up with scriptwriter to talk over ideas.

Thanks bibblebub, happy to check out any and all suggestions :)

@ grasscarp: Oohh an insider! any goss on the final episode?
No sorry. It is a long time ago.
Since you like the Wimsey stories, R4E also regularly broadcasts several Paul Temple stories and (my personal favourite) the complete Sherlock Holmes starring Clive Merrison, which are detailed here http://www.merrisonholmes.com/index.php but all are available to be downloaded if you search hard enough (I have all 80 episodes downloaded for free but can't remember at this time on a Friday night just where I got them from).
Question Author
Thanks Bibble - I'll check that out over the weekend.
I appreciate the lack of memory - I've got something like 8 seasons of The Unbelievable Truth from god knows where.
i reckon that the Sherlock Holmes stories must have been torrent downloads
Question Author
I'm not a fan of torrents, just seems too iffy to me. That said, I've generally found what I'm looking for somewhere ;)
know what you mean, but if one does proper backups then it is possible to recover one's system from everything other then hard disk errors
Question Author
Absolutely, though I think there's probably a case to be circumspect about this topic on Answerbank.
Question Author
On another tack, I'd honestly never heard of Paul Temple - having done quick Google it looks like there's a rich vein for me to explore, so thanks again.
the main actor is Peter Coke whose surname is (for some reason) pronounced like Cook

Oh nice one Bibble - now I'm off on a hunt for Derek & Clive downloads...
Here's the schedule for Rok Radio's British Comedy Channel:
http://rokradio.com/british-comedy-channel-program-guide/
(NB: Those times are GMT. Add an hour for BST)

Rok Radio's Old Time Gold has a mixture of British and American content:
http://rokradio.com/pumpkin-fm-gold-channel-program-guide/

You can find those channels (and three more) here:
http://rokradio.com/
There are over 85,000 old radio programmes available for download here:
http://otrrlibrary.org/
Many are American but there are some Radio 4 plays (listed as 'BBC4 Afternoon Play') plus stuff like 'Beyond Our Ken' and lots more if you dig deep enough.

Much of my radio listening is to the Rok Radio channels (above) plus some downloads from the OTRR Library. If, among all that lot, I still can't find something I like, there's always the 24-hour Goon show channel ;-)

Charles Paris's murder mysteries-comedy and murder don't seem together enough.
Try Radio 4 Extra, at 19.00 every day. Marvelous episode of Dads Army last night, the one where they try to pull Corporal Jones's van out of the mud using a circus elephant !
