It has been hinted (on the facebook page - make of it what you will) that some of the actors playing certain roles are to be changed.
Has anyone else heard about this?

I haven't Ric.Ror but could you post a link to the facebook page for me please ?
There was talk of it yesterday on the BBC news channel I think. The producers think it's a good idea, although didn't say why.
I still can't get used to the "new" Tony. His voice grates on me every time I hear him, he just isn't right.
According to The Times, Ric, we're getting a new Tom Archer for some reason. They didn't mention anyone else though.
That could have been the reason why Tom disappeared off to Canada in the first place...perhaps he had acting work elsewhere.
According to the Telegraph, the editor (Sean O'Connor) is re-casting many of the younger characters 'in favour of more experienced actors'.. He said "I think there was an issue with the younger actors who have been recruited, not from drama schools, but from local community groups. What I have been doing is bringing in slightly older actors to play younger characters, because they have been trained and know what they are doing."

That seems barmy to me, the actors were all doing fine as far as I am concerned. Tom Graham (Tom Archer) says he's been "deposed" and thinks his character will return with a new voice.
I feel I must step in and defend David Troughton. He is a very experienced actor and is making a fine job of Tony Archer. It can't have been easy taking over the role from another actor, but he is very convincing.

Perhaps genetics is playing a helpful part here......he is, after all, the son of Patrick Troughton, who knew a thing or two about taking over a role from a former actor, being Doctor Who Mark 2 !
Question Author
I agree with Mickey about Tony - in fact I get a bit worried that David Troughton will leave - so good is he as Tony
Ric...I hope he doesn't, as he has only just arrived !
Question Author
Yes but he is such a good actor he may get tempted - Mind you Tamsin Grieg still does a bit here and there doesn't she
I am still getting used the the 'new' Clarrie Grundy, she sounds more like Pam Ayres.
Ric.... Tamsin does indeed do a bit here and there but hardly ever in The Archers these day ! They could kill her off and we wouldn't notice.
Question Author
Oh no don't kill her off
I think the character still has a lot to offer - not sure how, when or where though
I have always had a problem with the supercilious Debbie Aldridge, as she has this very high-flyer of a job, despite not appearing to qualified at all. But perhaps not kill her off exactly, but have her suffer a bit would be nice.
Question Author
Mikey - I don't mind Debbie
Helen, Elizabeth and Emma however would be on my hit list
I wonder how far down the line the scriptwriters are going to take this story of David, Ruth, et all decamping oop north ? I can't believe that they willáctually do this, so what is the writers get-out clause ?

My prefered option is that Ruths Mum has a fall and dies, then there wouldn't be an overriding reason to move so far north. But I expect Route B will be changed at the last minute.

Agree about Helen...whiney doesn't even come close to describing her !
Shouldn't the poisonous Susan be first on the hit list?
Helen annoys me so much I can't wait for the Rob situation to come to a head. What happened about Jess being pregnant, has it been mentioned since she told them?
Isn't someone going to put a spanner in the works of the selling of the farm?

I thought there was something about the money being spread round the family if it was ever sold.

Didn't Kenton say something about "when do I get my money" when the family were told about the possible sale.
This is the third Clarrie Grundy, the first one committed suicide in real life:-(
