Sorry if this is the wrong site but have noticed the advertising of this thing like a little stick that you plug into your TV and you get Netflix, this channel and that channel

What is this and also - can you buy it like a one-off or pay every month etc. Thanks

If you mean 'Firestick' jj, you just buy it from Amazon.
I have one. I think it's only for smart TVs.

Thanks for that - I would have bought sista one for her for Xmas - but she has just a Sony - and as I am not very smart what the hell is a smart TV - is it dead brainy or what. LOL
It's really clever :-)

You can go on the internet on it and with the dongle thingy you mention you get Netflix, BBC iplayer, youtube and lots of other channels.
Find out what the model number of her tv is, jj.
I haven't got one but I would think they will work with any telly that has a usb slot.
jenny you need a teenager these days they come in very useful though they are are bit grumpy most of the time. They know all about smart TV's and smart phones and can download just about anything from anywhere. In fact I think I may go on 'Dragons Den' with a good business for hiring out Teenagers by the hour for all technical problems ;-)

Tony she has it quite a while maybe 5-6 years altho it is big screen - if I were to ask her she wouldn't have the manual etc. Also doesn't there need to be a hole in the TV and she doesn't have a hole.
Ha ha, you're right on there Retro. My 7 year old grandson knows more than I do. He does amazing things on my laptop but I've no idea how he does it. Ah to be young and fearless.
They probably do work with any TV's but we didn't get one until we got a smart TV and it was recommended by Amazon. I must admit....I love it.

I know you need teenagers etc but sure they haven't a minute for you. For Creys sake.

I said to sista look there is about 50-60 whatever channels on Freeview and you can only watch O N E. Ah she said what is that O N E is stinking - they're all the same.

I have record on my Samsung so I record all my favourites and enjoy my TV at nighttime - I am happy with what I have got.
If by hole you mean USB slot then it will be no good, jj.

at Tony no you are right - she wouldn't have USB.
Fire tv (not the stick) will work if the tv has HDMI
Is that what I've got? Lol

It's an LG TV that has the dongle in the side and we get lots of channels.
