once more it's that wonderful time of the year when they auction off "money can#'t buy" prizes (except of course you CAN buy them, if you're mega rich)
it makes me very annoyed, listening to super smug super rich people fight over things that everyone would love to do.
I honestly get that it's for charidee but COME ON!
You could enter by text this year for a chance to go to the dine and disco - it was £5 entry and LESS THAN HALF went to the charity

actually, i take a tiny bit of that wrath back - i just heard chris evans doing a trail for it where he called them "money can't usually buy" experiences
I kind of get slightly annoyed by that, but I don't take too much notice.
That's a bit 'denialist' bednobs. Rich people do exist and they do live lives way beyond the masses. To deny getting as much as possible for CIN would be a bit counter productive.
Question Author
yeah, i know i know, i think i'm just grumpy because it akes it all over for more than a week. I expect i'm probably jealous :)
I listen, but there has never been anything that they have offered that I would want to do, even if I had the money to bid.

I appreciate it's hard to get individual ambitions catered for - I'd bid for a feature on the front cover of Rolling Stone, but that never comes up!
Question Author
but would you bid 100s of 1000s andy?
Couldn't agree more, bednobs. After Yr.1 I have never contributed and it is the most dire time of year.

First year, a completely Muslim Junior School in Bradford (even the sign at the entrance was in Arabic, not translated into English) was treated to a day at the seaside. Grounds were to enable them to understand they lived. Sorry, but hols. are a parents' job. That was not what I gave money for. Not another penny, ever, from me.
^^ Where they lived.
So you never went on a school trip jourdain?
Yes, but not funded by Children in Need, which had stressed the dire circumstances in which many children existed. That is what I gave to, not school trips.
But if those children had never been to the British seaside, do you not think it may have made them feel more part of our culture?
Yes, ZM, of course, and I am wholly pro, but that is not what people gave for.
Struggling, again, to post, short form. Hope I can send it. Tried to answer as soon as you posted. Couldn't last night.
I think with collections like C in N, which distributes money to various projects, there are bound to be some that don't sit well with all.

For that reason many avoid and donate directly yo Charities they feel safer and more comfortable with.

The choice is always in the hands of the giver.
^ to, not yo.
Question Author
i don't in principle object to donating to children in need, or rich people (well richer thn me anyway) buying experiences they want (after all what's the point in being rich if you can't buy what you want?) I just object to it being shoved in our faces all week
never watch it either...lots of self indulgent "stars" bigging themselves up...how much is spent on the whole production and admin...how much goes to children in need...better to donate to NSPCC
