Sounds Of The 60's

I heard the sad news that Brian Matthew will not be returning to Sounds of the 60's. I suggest Mike Read to replace him, he has a great voice for radio.

I've just turned Radio 2 on to ensure that I don't miss the Dark Lord. So I've caught the end of Craig Charles' show.
Listening to that guy is the aural equivalent of watching your dad dance at a disco. It's a 52yo man trying to be 'hip' (or whatever the equivalent word is within the current street culture). It just doesn't work!

I am sorry Brian Mathew is not returning, I do like him, and his stopping appears a matter of controversy.
I would be fine if Mike Read did the show - I wouldn't want Johnny Walker because, although he retains his wonderful radio voice, he has the personality of a paper clip, so I would prefer he does not expand his current output.
No danger of Travis - he left under a cloud, which has darkened after his sexual assault cases.
Craig Charles is dreadful - why on earth he gets airtime is a mystery to me.
I do think it's time that Tony Blackburn got Pick Of The Pops back - I think the fact that Paul Gambaccini plays only generic jingles, no personalised ones, hints that he thinks he is holding the show until the genius of TB returns.

Thanks for all the comments. I am sad to hear Brian Matthew was pushed, I didn't realise he had had a fall. I also enjoyed Leo Green' show recently and I am pleased Tony Blackburn is back but I wish he was still hosting Pick of the Pops. I also think that Radio 2 has morphed into Radio 1 with some of the programmes naming Jo Whiley and Trevor Nelson.
