Mikey, a question for you.

What was Shula's relationship with Caroline? Having only been listening for a few years I don't know why she is singled out to arrange the memorial, and be so emotionally affected by her passing.

Hoppy...you are stretching my memory a bit.....

They were very old friends and they both shared a love of horses. As Peggy hinted at the memorial, Caroline was quite "fast" as it would have been termed back then, and Shula was one of the first that warmed to her.

Caroline was by no means an angel, and was one of Brian's first conquests. I have always thought Shula was aware of the affair, so I guess that made a kind of bond between them.

Minty....life without The Archers would seem unthinkable now, after nearly 40 years of listening. I look forward to 19:02 very day, and woe betide anybody that rings me during the next 13 mins !

Give it a go for a week or two....you never know, you might like it !

Was I right about Roy and Lexi?

Actually no.....Lexis was subject to some racist graffiti recently, but didn't want it reported to the Police, in case it made it worse. But Roy stepped in and reported it anyway, so Lexi wasn't best pleased with him.

As a relatively new Archer's fan, you may not be aware that Roy was involved in racist activity himself, against Usha Franks, the Vicar's wife, when she first appeared in the Village. It was very nasty, like all racist attacks.

Roy is abjectly ashamed of this now, of course, and is a very much reformed character, but it as left him very sensitive to similar attacks.

Yes, Roy definitely likes Lexi.

I can't imagine life without The Archers! It's just always been there as a part of my life. Mum had it on the Home Service as I was growing up.

jourdain2.....yes, my Mum was a fan and she also like Mrs Dales Diary .... I can remember sitting on her lap, listening to that when I was a very little !

Hoppy....I was born on June 4th 1953, so my claim to fame is that my Mum was too busy biting pillows, to really enjoy the coronation !

Coronation Day, mikey, I was sitting with legs crossed in front of our tiny tv screen (you opened the doors to the cabinet) squashed by all the other little kids in the area and standing room only for the adults behind. We had the only tv around. Mum had driven herself into the ground baking cakes. Later, I was walked to the deserted big house locally 'The Knoll' and there was a children's party. I still member it (I was 3) there was jelly. :)

Eccles....I am not 100% certain on this, but.....

Alistair had a very serious gambling problem a few years ago, which only Shula knows about. It very nearly broke up their marriage and they had to remortgage the business to survive.

He joined Gamblers Antonymous. I think Matt got to hear about it, in some way.

I am beginning to think that I might have got the Alistair/Matt affair not quite right....can anyone remember exactly what the problem is ?
