I did guess it was Justin in that car, but I have now revised my guess. I agree with you, mikey. Adam is the most likely culprit. It couldn't have been Justin; he wouldn't have driven Lillian to the hospital in a noticeably-damaged car.

Don't know about the Lillian episode yet, but I posted earlier in Oct. Arch. that my money was, so far, on Adam. Matt now has power over him and can destroy his marriage.... one phone call is all I need to make'. He is facing a life of potential blackmail. TBH about 15 people could be in the frame.

The squealing tyres would suggest that the driver tried to avoid Matt, but was going too fast. The door opening and closing implies that he/she, realising what had happened, panicked and drove off at speed.
My money's on a drunk driver from outside Ambridge.

Still think Anisha because she has the best alibi, I majored in Midsomer Murders and Morse. Otherwise Alistair or some random drunk.

Beginning to think that Adam is too obvious. How many have Matt seriously offended? A simple drunk-driver is surely too concindental?

If its somebody resident in Ambridge, then there should be some visible damage to the car they were driving.....not a lot though.

In my mind, it comes down to Adam, Justin, or even Alistair, as all three have a serious grievance with Matt. I, too, am not sure about unknown speeding driver from outside the village theory. I think that is a classic red herring.

When he comes out of his medically-induced coma, Matt himself may be able to give some important evidence, *** as he was on the night in question.

Whatever it is in his luggage it'll be a) dodgy and b) a keep-out-of-jail card for someone, he clearly doesn't want the police involved. Definitely not flying Ryanair!

Matt said that the headlights were on main beam, didn't he, and he was walking towards Grey Gables, so it must have been someone driving from GG. Adam? If the suitcases are 'stashed with cash' how would he get them through customs as every case is X-rayed, isn't it? He's definitely up to summat as they say.

Why do I blow hot and cold with Matt Crawford !

Is he weaving his spell with me, as he does with Lillian and others !

Tonight I felt sorry for him. This is at the same time as I am aware of how much of a Bar Steward he can be and is !

How can he stay at GG and yet no-one know he is there? Who is going to feed him? What about the staff there, or have I missed something? Glad Justin has seen sense at last.

Something Ms Dyed chucked in to the conversation this morning was that it could have been one of Mat's dodgy associates... not one I'd thought of but worth chucking in to the mix.
Also, having listened to 'the incident' three times now, there is a car in Borsetshire with a big dent in it!

I think that bump to the head has effected Matt more then we thought, if he thinks any airline is going to allow him to travel in his present state !

And what is in those suitcases ?
