I must be - I tuned into Russel Brand on Radio Two tonight, and I could only manage ten minutes before I had to switch it off!

Undistracted by his weird Paganini / Byron appearence, I was left with just his voice which produces a weird hybrid of Frankie Howard and Kenneth Williams on some very bad hallucinogenics, and talks an apparent stream-of- conciousness that doesn't quite end with "Ooo-er missus!" but strays dangerously close to it.

I realised that I hadn't the faintest idea what he was talking about, and I was rapidly loosing the will to live trying to find out, so I gave up.

I'm off to Greenwoods tomorrow to choose a new cardie for Christmas - I fancy a nice grey one with imitation wooden buttons .... cocoa anyone .....

Add me to your list of oldies and thankfully so..i was in the sad position last night having to work late and listening to radio 2.Not by choice it was piped through! Then on came Russell..What is he on????I would have rather been locked in a room with the killer in SAW! ..A total head/mind f--k i was physically exhausted by trying to find a single shred of sense! And to make it worse the only other thing to do was read a book someone left ! Harry sodding Potter.Oh and half of Thursdays daily star :(
I suppose this comes down to personal choice again, I used to listen to his show on music without fail, and really enjoyed it. i have not caught his radio 2 show, but can only imagine that he would be a little too manic for your average 2 listener.

I have to say I was very surprised to hear about his move to 2, most people I talk to find MR Brand too much, but I really like the hairy little scamp, maybe I am old too but am desperately trying to cling on to my youth lol
I also tuned into RB's show on Saturday. I'd never heard it before but, browsing through the Freeview listings, my eye was caught by the word 'comedy' in the description of the show. I read on, to see that Omid Djalili was a guest on the show. I regard OD as one of the best stand-up comics around, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Alas, I never got to hear OD. Like you, Andy, I decided, after only 10 minutes, that this wasn't the show for me and I tuned to something else.

I should have known better. The terms 'comedy' and 'Radio 2' rarely sit well together, as anyone who listens to much of the rubbish that goes out at Saturday lunchtimes will know.

Chris
I am officially old-i've been listening to Radio 2 for years!
I was miffed at the thought of Chris Evans being on Drivetime instead of Johnny Walker but I have really got to enjoy his show,I do feel that the controller has scored an own goal with Russell Brand though as I thought the programme was dire!
Perhaps they're trying to attract a younger audience?
I don't think you need to be old to dislike Russel Brand. I'm only 23 and can't stand him. Don't know what people see in him.
Well I am officially old and I fancy Russell Brand
'Then on came Russell..What is he on????'

crack allegedly
hey andy ..... welcome to the official hating Russell Brand club........i posted something on Media ...(tv ) cos i was unfortunate enough to watch his crap show on friday just gone.............. at least on the radio you didnt have to look at him......my god! tune in next week cos seeing is beleiving!! beleive me x
How did you survive 10 minutes? ... I can't stand 10 seconds of the to$$er ... he has to be hurt, badly, soon.
HMMmmm... Many thanks for that, Andy...It's so good to know it's not just me, then....AND it's not just that I'm an old Radio 2 listener too..!! Since the first time I saw / heard RB I've wondered why it is that some idle, unimaginative, desperate-to-be-trendy BBC Producer ever gave air-time to this infantile, incoherent potty-mouth with a crack-habit and a fixation with his own confused sexuality..!! I put it down to the fact that he must just be the next in line of the current crop of talentless, egotistical, offensive and embarrassingly un-funny losers to populate the radio and TV schedules. So I guess that means RB will swiftly follow in the footsteps of the other overpaid BBC darlings like Noel Edmonds, Angus Deayton, Chris Evans, Jonathan Ross, Ricky Gervais and the rest of their incestuous ring of showbiz "luv-vies". Roll on, the new Director-General..!!
Used to be able to put up with him on Big Bro's prog but got sick of it being more about his 'dinkle' and 'ballbags' than BB...
