Chris Evans morning show

What do you think then? Is he a good replacement for our Terry? I have been listening this morning and I don't think I'll be listening again, although I suppose i should give him time to "settle in". To me, Chris is a bit brash for early (ish) morning - I have really enjoyed Johnny Walker filling in for Terry and I wish he had taken over. What do others think?

I personally don't listen to the radio as at that time I'm in bed but I can tell you that I know of 20 people that stopped listening because of Chris Evans. He has ruined the breakfast show!

I like Chris - but I do think it'll take time for Terry's Old Faithfuls to accept a new boy.

Maybe Chris Evans should broadcast that Terry used to demand a wage for doing the comic relief shows. That would make them dislike Terry and prefer him maybe?

but silly thing was they gave him that wage! If it was that bad they could have just said no and got someone in that wouldnt demand one

I will certanly give him time to settle down,by that I mean stop shouting and getting excited. Thats OK for an early evening programme, not for early morning.

I listened for 4 minutes and then tuned to local radio! Given that noone could replicate Terry's style (to my mind) I think this was a disastrous choice - loud, brash and utterly unsuitable. I also hated Johnny Walker but I can think of others they could have chosen.

Thank you all for your answers. I agree with vulcan, Chris should stop shouting and calm down. Maybe I'll give him another week or so, although I have never particularly liked him.

Most of the young people I know are great fans of Terry. He is unique and was great to listen to in the morning, relaxing, but also a laugh.

I don't dislike Chris Evans, but not in the mornings please. I would want to slap him for being on a constant high.

Mornings will never be the same again.

Terry Wogan went exactly the same way as Jimmy Young by the end - he developed a mannered and prissy way of speaking that was unlike anyone else talking anywhere, ever! He either leaned into the mic and dropped his voice to the 'soothing blarney', or he ROARED LIKE A FORCE RIGHT GALE sometimes doing both in the same sentence. His delivery had become ripe for charicaturists, the sure sign it's time to go - which he has.

Objectively, the BBC cannot find another Wogan - even if they should wish to - so they haven't tried. Evans is a skillful broadcaster and he will loose a core of Wogan fans and gain some more new radio listeners who disliked Wogan's style.

Twas ever thus - nothing is forever, it's a radio show not a listed building - let's move on and let the past go.

Once again andy is the voice of reason. I like Chris - he is a big over-eager but it was his first day taking over from the great Terry so I'm willing to give him a chance. Loved his music though and lovely to hear Moira Stewart's voice again.

As soon as I heard him interrupting Frank Sinatra that was enough for me and I switched on to a local station. Never could stand his voice anyway. Why didn`t the Beeb keep Johnnie Walker on in the morning?

Can't abide Evans (the UKs most over-rated broadcaster ever) or his voice. Ditto Moira Stuart. I won't tune in. I'd rather spend two hours listening to fingernails dragging down a blackboard.

what irritated me was that if you werent a very regular listener when you DID tune into wogan, sometimes you didnt have a blee*in clue what he was rabbiting on about - a bit cliquey? however - i didnt like Chris when he first took over drive-time but i gave him a chance and he settled in ok - i do agree that he's a bit hyper tho and think Ken Bruce should do the whole morning!! (off my soapbox now)

It'll be interesting to see what the ratings are in relation to Moyles in 6 months time. Terry was always ahead.
