I could tolerate that. They had a competition to find the toaster that could send the slice the highest. I seem to remember some soldiers from the Army entered their modified toaster and it ended up drawing blood from Mr. Beardy himself. Nowadays if there isn't a good documentary on BBC4 I'll read a book or stick a TopGear DVD on. BBC1 and ITV are a dead loss Saturday night. No wonder so many are going out and getting sh1t-faced in our towns, there's naff all else to do.
Tv is not the be all and end all of Saturday night. Neither is getting blind drunk. Though am not sure why that is pleasurable. Cinema, theatre, dinner with friends, at home or in a restaurant. Many things to do, indoor sports, badminton, ten pin bowling, many more if you live in a city.
If like me you are on your own and cannot get out on a Saturday night or have no one to go with, there are books, music, hobbies, recorded tv if you can't live without it. Computer games and even AB.

On my manor, Daisy, there seems to be little else to do on a Saturday night other than to get blind drunk or do a drive-by shooting. It is a rural town with few facilities but several drug cartels. If it wasn't for the toxic expression of these times "negative equity" I'd have moved long ago. The quality of Saturday night TV is fairly far down my list of things to be concerned about.
