Just watched BB and I think Emily was made an exaple of, She didn't mean to be offensive, Charley made such a big issue of it all that Channel 4 had no choice but to act because of the Jane goody/shilpa shenty thing. I think that Charlie would start an arguement in an empty house, she thrives on this kind of thing and I hope that she is the next to go.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.she must be pretty naive to think she could use that word. i had asian friends in uni and they called me names and i'd call them names in a joking way - but im sure even then i wouldnt say stuff like that if i knew i was on telly - they would have been coached im sure on what was appropriate language and behaviour.
Hiya puss....... It was wrong of Emily to use tha word, I'm sure she had watched Celeb BB and even if she didn't she must have read it in the newspapers or saw it on the news.
They where told before they went in that this kind of language would not be condoned.
Surely she was not that naive, she was on BB.....Oh and I didn't see much of an apology from her in the diary room.....she was more bothered about not having any underwear on....she walked around half naked most of the time anyway.
I also think Charley saw a chance of saving her friend....Shab...and she did play up on it.

When I read about story yesterday they made out she said it while they were dancing etc but the way she just came out with it in normal conversation was stupid. Yes maybe not offensive to her as she says she uses it all the time. But it can be very offensive to black people. Yes they use it with their friends, but she has known he just over 5 days, its a line you dont cross. She is a very stupid girl, and she thinks she was most intelligent, dont think so.
Charley made a big thing about 'not talking about it in front of cameras' Made out she was OK with what was said but kept going on and on. She told everyone in the house deliberately to keep it on air. You could see her face change as she realised that she could turn it into a huge thing.
Shab then wanted to speak to Emily purely to ensure it was on camera again and discussed.
I dont think Emily shouldve said it but i dont think she meant it in a racist way. Sadly after what happened previously she had to go.
Im glad that it was shown in full on CH4, it gives the public a chance to make up their own minds on the story.

She did'nt mean to be offensive?
This is the girl {emily} who said she was 10/10 for intelligence.
It was totally wrong 100%. it was imaterial that charly would milk it, it was a poor excuse to say that her and her friends you the word on a regular basis.
She knew the rules, now she pays the penalty, BB had no choice whatsoever.

no she just looked like a spoilt brat fluttering her lashes to get her own way. 'Oh but its not fair' and you know what mum would have said to that redcrx, ha ha, then they would have ended the show lol. Thought she was going to start thrwoing a tantrum. But not once did she apologise, she was more worried she'd look bad.
She did'nt seem to have a guilty concience in the diary room.
Whether this was down to the shock of her being evicted i don't no, i think she knew exactly what damage she had done, but could'nt bring herself to make a sincere apology.
Miss super intelligent {emily} slipped up {got caught out}, i can't help but think if the housemates had been drinking {alcohol}for a number of hours, what sort of reaction there would of been?

My boyfriend is mixed race and i would certainly think twice about using the term "n*gger" even to him, even in a jokey sense!!! Let alone someone i've known for a week!!!
I was completely shocked in the context it was used... completely RANDOM!!! I think the papers said they were all dancing so i figured she may have said it in "rap" terminolgy but no, just out of the blue....
You cant blame Charley and NIcky for being shocked and credit to Charley for sticking up for Emily. yes she couldnt bloody drop it, but thats because she knew Emily was never gonna get away with it.
BB had no choice whatsoever.

Why shouldn't she be made and example of. She said it and she shouldn't have!! I don't really care in which way she said it jokey or not she shouldn't have said it. This world is going PC mad but if you think your 10 out 10 intelligent then she should be brainy enough to realise it was wrong.
I think Charley made a meal of the situation but then why not. She did genuinely look shocked at first.

I doubt Emily does use the word all the time and to her white friends because she said it once and it was to the only black girl in the house. It was an example of a posh person trying to be 'street' and failing miserably.
I agree with those who say Charley had every right to be taken aback. It may have only been said jokingly but it's still not acceptable. If she'd turned around to Laura or Carole and said 'you're pushing it out you fatty' nobody would be at all surprised if they were shocked and offended by her words, even if they knew she was joking, and n****r has far worse connotations than fatty.

The n-word will always be misused, full stop, by racists.
My sons tell me it is in common usage between young people " on the street" but as I said would you use it to their parents? It was immaterial Charlie was not offended , the viewing public , or at least some of them would have been.
It is deeply offensive , and I say that as someone who is sick to back teeth of political correctness.
At the very least Emily was very stupid and BB had no choice.

I think Emily deliberately said the word to get herself some attention. She could possibly have been evicted tonight but going out of the back door under a cloud is unfortunately going to get her a lot of publicity.I think it was part of her game plan.So do people who know her according to my Daily Express. She is a very unpopular person according to her old college.Sadly magazines will put her in the spotlight.
Completely agree with you Puss, what she did doesn't come close to the racist bullying that Shilpa suffered at the hands of Goody and Co. BB bosses and Channel 4 have just taken the opportunity to make themselves feel better about cocking up in such a major way in January. They didn't have to televise what happened, they could have just given her a warning and been done with it. Mind you, the fact that Charley was chuntering on about it for the next 6 hours would have made it difficult to edit anything out as there would have been nothing left!!
