Does anyone know if the smoking ban in England from 1st July affects the Big Brother House? Does it constitute a 'public place'?

No because it is banned in house anyway, they all smoke outside, but what I dont understand is that they put the smoking bench next to the fridge.

Thanks. I hadn't realised smoking was not permitted in the house.
It would have made great telly to watch the nicotine addicts go cold turkey!
Just for your interest TV productions are exempt from the ban so you may still see smoking in the soaps even though the sets are a public place of work.
remember that the ban is not just for public places, but also places of work and any area that is 50% covered. see www.smokefreeengland.co.uk
