I've DJ'd for a few years in several different countries and have seen numerous singers the majority of whom were better than most of the X factor finalists.
She can sing - averagely.
Like I said before her diction during low notes was appalling. If she had a fantastic voice she would have won and be a recording artist.
If you are a singer yourself I take it you have an agent and perform regularly and get paid for it ;-)

No actually i dont have an agent - perform regularly and get paid for it! But i still sing! I passed my grade 8 singing exams when i was 15 and never wanted to be famous or a singer just something my mum wanted me to do when i was old enough to say no and had all my grades i stopped doing it! Is that ok with you or should i stop calling myself someon who can sing?!
I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the Laura thing!

RevFunk. With respect, just because you are a DJ and have worked all over the place, I don't think that qualifies you to know who is a good singer or not - it may qualify you to know what is popular or not. I don't mean this to sound rude by the way.
I consider that I have a fairly good musical ability and can recognise good or bad singing and Laura is a good singer. Having a fantastic voice does not seem to be a qualification for an X factor winner.

Lofty the point I was making was that as a DJ I have worked alongside and seen more singers than most people could shake a stick at. Laura I put firmly in the category of having an average voice - compared to other singers.
She is good compared to average Joe in the street but will she ever record and enjoy even minor success? No chance.
Whilst she was in the competition I couldnt understand a word she was singing when she was singing low notes.
A pub/club singer at best hence the gigs she is doing now.

REVFUNK look what ive just read on the news pages.....The X Factor's Laura White has confirmed that she will duet with Chasing Pavements singer Adele.
Adele mooted the idea at one of her gigs and ranted that Laura should never have been kicked off the show.
Laura said: "I was so excited when I heard what Adele had said because I am one of her biggest fans. She is incredible.
"I have spoken to her about it. She wants to do a duet and I really want to do it too, so it is just working out the timing," she said.
Adele is playing the Roundhouse in Camden later this month, and it is thought that Laura might join her on stage.
Lily Allen and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin have also publicly backed the jazz singer, and she said the support has been "so inspiring".
"I think about all the people who have come out in support of me and I think I'm just little Laura - if you saw where I was from and I used to play tiny jazz bars to four people.
"When you leave The X Factor you think 'oh is that it now for me' and I worked so hard to get there, but there are still so many people who believe in me," she said.

Thanks lubecki16, Alex is about the most grown up on the programme, perhaps that's because she does know about the truly valuable things in life, due to her Mum's illness? All of the finalists will get a career of one sort or another due to the programme the only advantage of winning is the pot of prize money. What I was trying to get at is that the really important things in life are those that you can't buy because they transcend monetary value.

I have to diasgree that 'If she had a fantastic voice, she would have won and be a recording artist ...'
That is simply not the way talent shows like this work.
Alexandra has by far the best voice - and yes I do know because i am a music writer - but that does not guarentee her the winning position by any means. That will go to the artist who'se fans pick up the phone in the greatest numbers, and that will place her third behind either of the other two acts in the final.
That said, I am sure she is assured of a contract and a career - and I would advise that the same probably awaits Laura who has an excellent jazz-blues vocal style.

Getting signed and releasing a CD isn't my idea of a long lasting career in the music industry, Rev. In fact, it's far from it. I happen to agree that Laura has a wonderful Jazz, blues voice and will get better and better with age.
She will join the likes of CleoLaine, Shapiro and Moyet - no need to release CD's, etc.
