Watched the new series last night (missed it when it was on onTuesday) and I'm not sure it's as good as the past series. Nice to see Nick Crane back (who seems to have taken over the main presenting from the Neil Oliver who I prefer). But why did we have to see some aging pop star from a group called Dr Feelgood who looked as though he was spaced out, twittering on about Canvey Island - couldn't they find someone more interesting - he was on for ages! Then Alice was having tea with some ex-seaside landladies. This is not what I find interesting. Coast used to be a fantastically interesting series but this first episode is not. I hope it improves or not even the lovely Neil Oliver will not keep me tuned in!

I think that Coast has been one of the most interesting and informative of the nature type programmes, with Neil Oliver as the best presenter, alongside Alice Roberts. I didn't see last night episode but am considering buying the entire series and watching at my leisure.

I totally agree em, I even enjoy the repeats! Try to catch last nights on iplayer and see what you think.
I will, and i love the programme because it doesn't preach, have a message if you get my drift. I even like Mark Horton who can be a tad over enthusiastic. If you like Neil Oliver you should watch, if you haven't, the series on The History of Scotland, excellent.

Oh yes em, I've watched the Scotland series and the Ancient Britain one - Neil Oliver is one of my favourite presenters, so knowledgeable and really enjoys what he does. That makes such a difference in any programme. There are so many "presenters" on TV who just do autocue presenting like Nicki Chapman who seems to be everywhere, even Chelsea flower show! No give me Neil and others like him anytime.
indeed, of course there is the best of all Sir David Attenborough, but i do like people like Chris Packham because of the enthusiasm they bring to the subjects they speak about, Brian Cox is another on matters of science and the Universe, though he should steer clear of ever doing another programme with the likes of Jonathan Ross, and Dara O'Brien, perhaps they thought it would make light television, but better to be on his own
I enjoyed it as always but i was also surprised not to see Neil Oliver in the driving seat.
I thought it was great to see and hear the legend that is Wilko Johnson speaking about Canvey Island and his love for the place, he is bonkers but a fascinating person i think. He is currently in Game of Thrones if you wanna see more of him!

em, I couldn't agree more!
I love the programme - did you know that Neil Oliver's hair is insured? http://www.newsbiscui...for-a-million-pounds/
thats quite funny, fancy insuring your hair, though does put some womens to shame. I remember one episode where he jumped into the sea, in the hope of one day doing the channel i think, he didn't get far, and came out almost blue, don't think he would do it again.
