Does anyone know the artist/name of the background music in Escape to the country? Have had a scout around on the net but drew a blank. Its played at regular intervals during the shows of the current series. Its a lovely dreamy chillout tune....they play a snippet of it over & over.
Thanks in advance.

not sure which song. but its by the super furry animals
Hi. I cant remember which song, but the music your referring to is by The Super Furry Animals.
Try Acoustic Alchemy. Their "Natural Elements" is the theme tune to Gardeners World. BBC have used them quite a lot
The Tune is MAT HILL and it's called DAYBREAK.
It took me ages to find it.
you can download it from audio network
Sorry, The Tune is BY MAT HILL and the TRACK is DAYBREAK

I have increasingly grown fond of all the background music in ETTC over the past few years & was extremely dismayed when it was replaced with series 14 which started in summer 2013. (I feel this has now changed the atmosphere of the programme & ruined it). Because of this, I set about attempting to identify and hopefully obtain as many tracks as possible & had started trawling through samples of tracks listed on the main media music sites. I had identified some eg Paul cuddeford's tracks but it was proving a difficult task. Many thanks therefore to DebbieP2 for supplying her list - I have previously sent several emails to the Programme makers requesting a list (and expressing my dismay about the 'new' music) but have not received any responses. Since this list was posted, I have now found all but 2 tracks on the media sites. There are however around 8 tracks on the list which I cannot recall hearing on Escape to the Country. Equally there are a number of tracks which have been featured in the programme but which are not on the list eg: Warm glow, Falling leaves, Blue sky, I wish - all by Paul Cuddeford, Southern Aurora by Miklosh F, Silk ripples by K Mcpherson, Echoes from the deep by Terry Devine-King and Pyramid by Matt Hill. Incidently - all of the Paul Cuddeford tracks are on his 'green light' album which can be obtained from one of the Media music websites. I'm still trying to identify a further 4 or 5 tracks including the opening theme. My intention then is to download or obtain relevant CDs. So far it has been good to listen to tacks in full rather than those few tantalising seconds when heard on the programme.
Thanks for the list of tracks used. I can't access some of them though. The one I like is the slightly melancholy piece played on an oboe (I think). Anyone know what that one is?
Here are a load more tunes which are used in Escape to the Country. I found them all on Audio Network:

Bluebell Railway - Patrick Hawes
Sunnyside - Robert Bruce
Middle England - Debbie Wiseman
Earthspan Pastoral - Paul Mottram (this may not have been used but I've heard it somewhere!
Wonderland - Paul Mottram
Golden Harvest - Paul Mottram
All is Well - Paul Mottram
Green and Pleasant Land - Paul Mottram
Spring is in the Air - Paul Mottram
Sea of Tranqulity - Paul Mottram
Homecoming - Patrick Hawes

I'm sure there's a few more on there as well. Paul Mottram does seem to be the composer of choice. I'm not surprised as he's composed some lovely tunes.

Audio Network is a great source of tunes. Personal users can download them for 79p a go.
Also I think Uplift by Paul Mottram has been used as well.
Another track currently used (one of around 3 tracks featuring plucked strings) is 'La Serenissima' by Igor Dvorkin / Duncan Pittock - They also wrote 'Space Race' which used to be used during the previous 2 series as background during the 'what you can buy for higher / lower budgets in the County' section.
Again, bothe these tracks can be found on Audio Networks.
I'm also looking for this song taken from a Soneva add, it's been on escape to the country many times and can't find its name : (

Re Soneva ad. (timtom963). Yes this used to be on ETTC regularly prior to series 14. The track is called 'Healing dawn' and is by Aaron Wheeler. It is on the PlayKPM web site, but unfortunately (unlike Audio Network) you are only allowed to download if you are a registered media user - this tends to apply to Production music in general. I have identified in excess of 50 tracks which were all used in escape to the Country prior to the last series(14) - they are all superb tracks & I would dearly love to have them all available to play on my HiFi system. They are found across 4 or 5 different production music sites but the only tracks I can download are those on Audio Network Plus several Paul Cuddeford tracks which I already have on his 'Green Light' CD. In total, this amounts to around half of the 50+ tracks I would love to download / record. I can supply the list of tracks (there are still others used but they were mainly used in the background during features but I don't feel were used individually very often). My track list does have one omission - that of the pre series 14 opening theme - I have been unable to identify this despite considerable effort. Even the programme makers did not bother to respond when I asked them. The suggestions made earlier at the top of this page have not checked out correctly either. So if anyone does know ........ please share!
Hi Wolrad. Thanks for your help with these tracks. Can you share your complete list of 50+ tracks? Also, anyone know what is the piano music used in series 14: Dorset as well as many other episodes. It sounds very like 'Welcome Chris' from 'The Pursuit Of Happyness' soundtrack. I'm tearing out what is left of my hair!! Much thanks. Sending out peace and love to all.
Hi Vinnytheveggie, I will post a list on here as soon as I can - fair bit of typing involved! Glad the info has been useful.
Here is the promised track list!
Tracklist - Escape to the Country -
I have identified the following tracks which have been used occasionally or regularly at some time during the period spanning at least series 8 up to series 13. (A 'handful' of these tracks* have also continued to be used during series 14 also). These tracks are all familiar to me from the programmes but there are numerous other tracks which have also been used - possibly infrequently so as not to become familiar. I have listed under relevant production music web sites:-

NB - * denotes track also used regularly / occasionally in Series 14 (also one or two others have been used once).
As previously stated, you can download ONLY from Audionetwork (also Destiny / Zero 7).
To locate any of the above tracks:- playkpm: - search by track title (or poss artist), Audionetwork: - search by track title, Imagempm: - search under Cavendish music & select Dreamscapes, JWmediamusic: - search artist or album - however, you can only hear first 30 seconds of each track therefore better to go to Beatbox.com; select Guest, select Library, select Beatbox and / or JWMedia, select album from thumbnail photos, select relevant track(s).
In my view, every one of the 52 tracks is brilliant
(contd. from above) Whoever chose these tracks for ETTC certainly knew what they were doing!. Happy listening.
Incidently, I managed to negotiate purchase of Paul Cuddeford's 'green light' CD from JWMedia music - Apart from the ETTC tracks, the remainder of the album is excellent. It may be worth emailing them and checking if it is possible to buy the CD - in which case, email: [email protected] - I paid £15.00 for the CD.
Excellent work DebbieP2 and Wolrad; it is most appreciated. I'll be spending my rainy Bank Holiday Monday checking out these tracks. Yeah!!! Love and peace.
Hi vinnytheveggie, glad you are pleased with the list. You earlier mentioned piano music in series 14? Most of the series 14 stuff is covered above by dinkyall but if it's not one of those tracks, it may be 'Pyramid' by Matt Hill? (no.32 on my track list - one of the few tracks carried over to series 14 - just a thought!
