are some of the egghead teams chosen because they are thick. How are they picked . Do they have to answer so many questions wrong to get on the programme.

haven't watched it for 2 years-that arrogant (thin, dark) bloke got on my nerves too much-if no one is winning money, listen to other questions-is it even?
I know you have to nominate 6 players for your team and then one is eliminated - not sure how though. You are correct - they do seem to have some "very thick" teams on there lately!
Maybe the pressure of the studio affects their performance. I doubt if they'd go on if they didn't think they were good enough to win.
Like they always say the questions are only easy if you know them. I'm sure we all have days where we seem to know all of the questions but then the next are clueless!
@bagpuss63 - "that arrogant (thin, dark) bloke got on my nerves" - ah yes, CJ de Mooi. He irritates everyone. He mugs melodramatically if his team mates get answers wrong, but I reckon he is the most frequently eliminated egghead. I remember one question the answer to which was "guitar". He looked at the 3 choices and said "Well, it's absolutely definitely categorically NOT guitar" then just shrugged when told it WAS guitar, as if to say, well it doesn't matter - he does that a lot when he's wrong.

Anyway gollob, it does seem to me the teams have a very odd approach to this contest - you think they'd select particular specialists for the different subjects but then they put someone in to do, say, sport and they start by saying "This isn't a strong subject for me" - well why have they been picked to do sport?!

The other one that winds me up is when they try to justify not knowing something by frowning and saying "Hmm, this is a bit before my time." The only quiz presenter I've heard challenge that was Victoria Coren on Only Connect, when someone played that card she said "So? Hitler was before your time, you've heard of him, haven't you?"

Usually I want the Eggheads to win anyway.
Will today's challengers win the money? erm...

I actually went with my team to an interview for Eggheads. It was a team of 6 and all our players beaten their opponents ,then we won the team game. Never heard another thing from the Eggheads researchers.. Could not believe that the team we beat 7-0 turned up on the programme and they were just as useless.
So the moral is if you want to get on Eggheads try not to be too bright.
