What a waste of an hour IMO.

A Caribbean twist on Midsomer Murders I think.

I am disappointed as the trailers seemed so promising. (Don't they always?)

just what i thought, a Caribbean based midsomer murders, i might watch the second to see if it gets better, but don't hold your breath.

I'd like to give it another try next week too, but as it clashes with something my OH would like to see on a different channel, he might win the battle of the remote, espcially as he knows I wasn't too taken with it !!

A good bunch of actors, Don Warrington et al, what were they thinking?!!
I thought I'd watch, but the thing on Bletchley Park on BBC2 was much more interesting.
i know what this will sound like, but it's as though they couldn't find a better vehicle for good black actors, and there's plenty around, so stuffed them all in one show. I know its set on a Caribbean island, but even so.
Don Warrington has a rather plummy voice, so seemed out of character, as to Danny John Jules, where has he been all this time.
The plot, and final outcome were a stretch too far. And why didn't they have a black actor play the lead, had to be a plod from the met too.

We had Scots who Found the Modern World on Beeb2 :(
I think if we'd had the Bletchly Park thing I'd have watched that instead.
Indeed, i have watched quite a lot of other documentaries on Bletchley park over the years, but as you say they are really interesting. My o/h knew quite a lot about the place, and some of the people who worked there.

I too find all things Bletchley Park interesting and fascinating.
Even if it's something which is being repeated I'd watch it.

I understand what you mean Em, about the actors, Danny J-J has aged somewhat, but I suppose we all do :)
Ended up really not liking Ben Miller's character at all.
like no Englishman i know. That stiff upper lip type, really didn't ring quite true.
Haven't seen it until tonight, was looking forward to it, hope I enjoy it.
Me too, netibiza.
you may be disappointed, its a tad formulaic.
With all the similar programmes around it must be very difficult to think of a different theme. I remember thinking while watching Waking the Dead - why do I watch this, it's the same every week with very small variations. Trevor Eve is rude to one of his contemporaries and shouts over what they are saying. He does exactly what he wants causing temporary difficulties. Eventually everything turns out all right. Oh well!! I think most programmes become old and tired after a while and then something original pops up for a while until the public gets tired of that. Reality programmes are beginning to go the same way. I wonder what will be next?
Just watched Death in Paradise and I liked it. No bad language, no gory bits to speak of just a bit of blood. I like Ben Miller too. Suits me quite nicely.
I thought it was ok, I like the fact that you get the whole story in one hour.
Totally agree with the OP - utter rubbish. I only really watched for the location but it didn't exactly hold my attention. Already cancelled the series link.
Watched the second one last night - and thought it was really good. Lighthearted drama, stunning locations, a bit predictable, but good gore and bad language free TV ...... shall continue watching as found it a nice easy going hour personally.
