HD Set Top Box

Can anyone recommend the Bush stand alone HD Freeview Set Top Box that Argos sells ? I understand that you just plug it in, connect it with an HDMI lead and it will convert your HD Ready TV to actual HD on the selected HD channels.

Many years ago Bush was a well known English electrical company, but the company went bust and the "name" was sold to Argos (similar thing happened to Goodmans where the name was bought by Comet).
So now Bush are only sold at Argos and Goodmans only sold at Comet.
All these companies like Argos and Comet do is get cheap stuff made in the far east and stick the brand name on it. So you have no idea who has made it and what the quality is like.
I would try to go for a decent brand where the company has some interest in maintaining its quality to keep the brand name good.
I believe Humax have a good name in this area, though I personally dont have any Humax products.
Note Freeview HD is not yet available in all areas (I believe) so check you can get Freeview HD.

I never knew the above - reminded me that years ago it was revealed that Curry's sold their on hi fi stuff under the brand name Matsui because the public were more inclined to trust the Japanese for such products.
I don't have a humax HD box, but I can confirm having an ordinary PVR from them that they are a good and reliable make.

Make sure whatever you buy has an ethernet connection. New HD channels give you iPlayer and LoveFilm over broadband connected to your Freeview HD box.
