BBC RED BUTTON

Can anyone please tell me how I can access the information on the BBC Red Button when no red button is showing?! I have always used Teletext / Ceefax but now that they will no longer be available, I wondered how I could access the information. Find it really useful for transport updates, sports results, weather and local headlines. I only have use of a pc at work - hence the need to access from home.

BBC still has text (digital), simply press the text button on your remote. The BBC is particularly good.

Really - I didn't know that - I kept pressing the red button - but nothing happens unless the red button is on the screen. Thank you so much - will try immediately I get home.

We have a freesat box and have to put BBC1 on then press the red button .Then e can access sports results,news, racing etc.

Well, I tried both options - but sadly neither worked for me. If I press text, I simply get a blank screen and by pressing 105 I get the title BBC Red button BUT can get no information - the screen simply clears!
Any other suggestions gratefully received!

Try this. Even if you are watching BBC, change the channel to the SAME one. After a few seconds the red button icon should appear automatically, then press it. If nothing comes up then something must be wrong somewhere

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Have tried them all but nothing works. Must be a fault with the TV!

What channel are you going to to access the red button? If you are watching on freeview, try to access it from the bbc news channel or the bbc parliament channel.

Are you watch BBC through a digital package or analogue? You'll get no red button coverage on the latter.

Another tip, it will not work if you have subtitles on, you need to switch them off first.

I've got a digital TV and am trying to access via BBC1 [not analogue!] when there is no red button showing! I'll try tonight from BBC News Channel as you suggest. Many thanks!

The red button isn't available on BBC1HD or BBCHD. Pressing the red button or Text button on any other BBC channel should get you in.

Well, I've tried all the options once again but still no joy. On 105, I get the title BBC Red button BUT no text and the screen clears within a few seconds. All other options give me the teletext numbers - 100 at top of the screen - and the coloured blocks at the foot with a blank screen -but no text - and nothing works when I press either numbers or colours. It's obviously a blip with my tv - very frustrating but I'll have to live with it until I can get someone to look at it for me.

Thanks for all your suggestions. The TV man has just been round and apparently the Phillips TVs need a software update in order to access the red button - have posted this in case anyone else has been having problems and has a Phillips TV!
