Did anyone watch it? What a lovely actor. He shunned the glitz, prefering to have privacy and a close circle of actor friends. A very humble man. I had no idea how many films he'd made, although I avidly watched 'Upstairs Downstairs' & I remember him in 'Whisky Galore'
I never saw that cath. This programme has really made me quite interested in may be buying a book about him! I'd also like to watch some of the old films he did too!
He was a good friend of Sir Alec Guinness. Once, as a favour, he dressed up as Hudson and served tea to an American friend of Sir Alec's, just because she was a huge fan of Upstairs Downstairs. A very kind thing to do, I think.
Oh you must watch it all the way through! Its one of my favourite films and I remember when it came out, I went to see it about 20 times at the cinema, just for Steve McQueen who was my hero! There were some great actors in it and I still watch the DVD frequently! I know, I'm a saddo!
