they don't use monitors they all have ear pieces and yes he was out of key with the band, not keen on cliff as a singer but that's not normal for cliff he's a stickler for his performance, i like him as a bloke though,
I would guess he could just about hold it together -musically speaking- if seated and with decent monitoring.
Looks like it's all caught up with him (and his neck is looking more and more like an elephant's scrotum).
Good answers guys -especially the first three.....! I am not a Cliff fan but was too afraid to say so ! Didn't wish to be 'flamed'
I agree it's time they hung up their larnyx's (?) Cliff,Elton and Paul - they've all had a very good run!
Grace Jones is well underrated ! -Love "Island Life".....I often used it as a 'benchmark' for sound quality when buying new bits of hifi....She is great artist!!
I think Cliff started out off but did improve a bit. Elton did'nt sound right but had spent the previous week in hospital with a lung infection so I think he can be pardoned. I don't much like Macca but he can still put on a show. The levels seemed all wrong even Tom Jones seemed to be struggling to be heard over the music.
There's been quite a bit of criticism about the performers at the Jubilee concert but what you must remember is, this concert was performed outside on a fairly chilly night.
There was also a lot of smoke about right from the beginning, and this can't be good for the voice.
All this and the fact they were performing before a huge noisy crowd, it's no wonder they didn't all sound their best.
