On the subject programme last night the final question the contestants were asked was "Which is greater, the number of coins in circulation in Britain or the world population"
They got the question right and won £75,000.
I got it wrong by thinking that seven billion population must be greater.

They normally give the figures after the question has been answered but last time I looked(I'm in the business of writing quizzes),there were over 28 million coins in circulation in the UK alone!
If the figures you refer to are correct dr pop that equates to half a coin per person on average in the UK. Did you mean 28 BILLION?
Yes indeed Factor, it's 28 Billion :)(it is early...). Just for some perspective, the USA have over 2.5 trillion of which over a trillion are pennies(which actually cost more than a penny to make)
I was thinking that 28 billion seemed a bit excessive, until I read this:
