Yeah, cringe! I'm curious as to why they've let that stay, as it would have been easy enough to cut out that whole "banter" bit and pad the programme with something else. I'm seeing Kevin, Pat and Barry on Saturday so I'll mention it to them...

How long ago was it recorded, Mark?
Well, Dave started filming back in April, IIRC. I remember Barry mentioning it at the Scotland National quizzing team get-together around that time...
Missed it - what happened?

Jimmy did it for him but he was 'unlucky' to not meet him and it was strange that BBC didn't edited out
Dont have a clue, puzzled, but I may be nosey and watch it later on tonight.....:0)

Here's a link, just for you , if you wish to be as nosey as me lol :0)

Can you tell me when and where this mistake happened, so I don't have to watch all of the programme again? Thanks very much.

When the presenter was chatting to Ian
Spoke to Pat about this today. He said that, whilst he wasn't 100% certain as none of the Eggheads has any input into post production of the show, this one would have probably been filmed some time in the summer, as there is typically a delay of between five and six months from filming to air. During that time, one of the three editors would have cut and spliced to make a thirty minute broadcast and this would have almost certainly been finished long before the Savile story broke. It is true that sometimes shows get pulled if they make reference to people who have recently died or to other tragic events, but that didn't happen in this case maybe because the contestant in question had never met Savile. The fact that he said that he was unlucky not to have done so was unfortunate given the subsequent circumstances, but couldn't have been considered serious enough to pull the episode...
