Not so much as a question, but Happy Birthday to Harry Corbett's Sooty who is 65 today. It would be four years from Sooty's "discovery" before he was first seen on TV in a talent contest (the X Factor of its day).
I'm sure most of us have enjoyed Sooty at some time during our childhoods!

Oh happy birthday Sooty. I loved him and so did my sons...and he doesn't look a day older :)

I loved Sooty, and so did my son Robi. Sooty is one year younger than me.
Sooty is head and shoulders above any X factor contestants!!
65? Same age as me then LOL ............
Happy birthday Sooty, is it Sweeps birthday to ?.
Probably Tony, and don't forget Sue!!
And Sue, don't leave her out

What are yoooou doing in there?
Amazing that something as simple as Sooty and co. entertained children for years and years and remained popular whilst more sophisticated programmes ran out of steam.

Ah yes, almost forgot Sue, thanks.
"Izzy wizzy, let's get busy!"
I say 'entertained children', but he entertained adults as well. I still enjoyed watching sooty with my son.
I remember having one of these...probably not one of my mum's better ideas :)

To answer some of your questions, Sweep came along in 1957 and Sue in 1964. The 1960s also saw the introduction of Butch the dog, Kipper the cat, Ramsbottom the snake and Enry the robot.
Sooty was probably my favourite programme when I was tiny. Happy birthday, old bear
