It seems to me that the "100 people" on this show are more modern-based than classical/historical. They frequently do exceedingly well on Pop/Soaps/Celebs questions where I haven't got a clue but fail abysmally on more academic questions (eg, the Shakespeare example).
As someone once said, "they're all easy when you know the answers".
