You mean 'who do you think you are', ummm
According to the previews, SS "avoids a straight impersonation, doing the singing herself and giving the character a real warmth."

I do like Sheridan Smith - I'll be interested to see if she can capture the volution of Cilla Black from genuinely technically gifted singer (Alfie being a case in point of a really difficult song nailed) into a screeching harridan carricature who speaks unlike any Liverpudlain I have ever heard - "Cluuuure with fuuurrrr huuuuurrr ..." and all that.
Must admit to being a little puzzled as to how some of you who dislike the subject matter so much can expect to enjoy watching this programme, however much you like the actress?

## After hearing her interviewed on The One Show and realising how rubbish a person she actually is, ##

Scrivens,
She has shaved her head and wearing a wig on this morning in aid of a charity for cancer, so how come you think she's a rubbish person?
i am enjoying the trend for dramatising stars with dramas -

Michael Sheen as Kenneth Williams was wonderful, as was David Walliams as Frankie Howard, but the finest by far was Trevor Eve as Hughie Green.

None of them were inpersonations, they were wonderful characterisations, but Trevor Eve WAS Hughie Green, within two minutes my belief was totally suspended and I saw HG as he must have been - something of a monster.

I remember his right-wing rant that ended his career - it was as if his true self was finally out there - he went from twinkly-eyed cheese-meister to swivel-eyed Nazi loon - it was unbeleavable!

Hope there are more of these types of dramas.
@andy-hughes......I agree......and let's not forget Ruth Jones as Hattie Jacques

I was more of a Dusty Springfield girl..............

SS sings herself in the series and she's a far better singer than CB ever was !
Terrible accents, why didn't they cast Liverpudlian actors as Cilla's parents !

When I said 'I was never a fan of Cilla' ... I grew up in a house where my parents played her music & so know her songs , but it was never my era. Saying that, I can imagine it was an exciting era musically & I'm really interested to watch it.
## I can think what I like, I'm not part of any religious sect y'know.##

Well your posts certainly sound like one Scrivens!!!!!

It was Elina, and also a great era to be a teenager/20s something.

The programme was a disappointment, although it was nothing to do with the actress who portrayed Cilla. I think the material and script was very poor
