Watched the first episode of this tonight..........that's another hour of my life I'll never get back! Maybe I just didn't understand it though?

I thought it fabulous, maybe having read the book helped and is a genre I like.
Gaah, I forgot that it was on!

I've read the book, and I wanted too see it.
A review on the radio today said that basically it was a slow burner. If you have read the book you might have a chance of understanding it and following it. I deduced that maybe reading the book is a good option and may save hours of your life maggiebee. I think I will try the book option.
Not read the book and I rarely do not finish a book, but I will not be bothering to watch the next episode
It's quite a long book.
It is a long book and I didn't find it easy to get into - I think so far it shows signs of adapting to the screen very well.
I haven't read the book but I've recorded the programme. Not worth watching then?
Not to my taste but try for yourself. We all enjoy different things.
It's very much like the book at the beginning. Lots of seemingly unrelated scenes, but it will all start to come together nicely. It's not easy, nor was the book...but hopefully should be well worth sticking with.
I watched it and 'sort of' enjoyed it. I'll keep with it and see what happens.
helly...that's EXACTLY how I felt...a bit underwhelmed but willing to stick with it!
i don't know how many episodes it is, but if it's 8, that's 8 hours. The book will take you significantly longer (plus give you wristache)
Last night was the first of seven.
I found it a bit confusing, but I think the first episode was 'setting the scene', so will stick with it for now. I get the impression Inam going to like it.
Never read the book but i am so intrigued by the first episode that i fully intend to watch the 2nd - and hopefully beyond. I prefer my dramas to be a little ambiguous and for the pennies to drop slowly - you don't show the hare to the dog straight away.
I heard it discussed on the radio, and they confirmed that it is slow to get going, because it is scene-setting, but patience is rewarded.
The DM TV critic slated it...
^^^^That's as good a recommendation to watch it, as any I can think of.
Maybe you don't have to understand everything about a show from the first episode. Learn from it as you go,and enjoy the journey.
