I watched this programme last evening for the second time. When I watched it first time around, I recognised the actor who played Christopher Jefferies' friend Charles Chapman. I couldn't remember where I'd seen him before.

Last evening, the penny finally dropped. He was Sgt. Peter Noakes in 'Call the Midwife. Miranda Hart played his wife.

I too watched for a second time last night and thoroughly enjoyed the drama again. Brilliant casting for the main character

I watched it for the second time last night as well DSJ. I thought it was better than the first time I saw it. Beautifully done, I couldn't fault it.

starts off not as it is
and we see Chris J change as things change around him

He loses his crazy hair style ( as he did in Real Life )
and starts wearing middle class clothes....

didnt the book seller complain she had never behaved like that ( but of course they all pleaded dramatic licence )

When the mass poisonings in Camelford were dramatized from twenty y ago
a similar transition occurred in the Mad Scientist .... ( who said early on they were all being seriously affected with covalent aluminium ) - crazy skew glasses go, Einstein "haircut" is remodelled, self knitted wooly sweater goes....
starts wearing a lab coat .... well anyway you know.
