As a child I loved Mr. Pastry! Can't bear the Clitheroe Kid repeats, but liked them at the time. All the others mentioned were an entertaining part of life. The Navy Lark, yes jackdaw - with the formidable Pomona
Thanks mikey. That just made me choke on my beer as I read it.
Bonar Law, and a criminal practice !!
It would have gone 'straight over my head' when I was 'young and innocent'
But now it's very funny and clever, suppose it only avoided being banned because so few people understood.
I remember Round The Horne, and no-one understanding the Polari that J & S spoke, just loved the voices. I had no idea how really subversive they were for the time.
I also remember The Clitheroe Kid, and Tommy Handley, and Al Read on the radio.
I have vague memories of Mr Pastry, but I was too young to understand what he was doing and whether it was funny or not.
I don't remember mr pastry. I'm too young, I guess (sorry:/) he reminds me of a man they showed on QI a few years ago. He wore very long-toed shoes and bent over doing some weird things. Stephen Fry thought he was hilarious, but no one else did.
