I watched last nights program, and I was pleasantly surprised by all the crisp, colour footage of the ceremony. I am not sure I had seen that footage before.

Well worth watching for those that missed it

i turned off the tv when it came on, I like the Queen but wasn't that interested in the Coronation as a programme.
My woman wanted to watch it so we had it on; then she fell asleep on my shoulder and missed it whilst I couldn't even turn over. Arrhhhh !!!!!!

OG...I am far from being a Royalist, as you will know !

But I was impressed with the way that the ceremony was planned and carried out. Considering the problems that we still faced in 1953, what with the War only being over 8 years before, it was remarkable that we did it at all, let alone as well as we did.

By the way, the coronation happened just 2 days before I was born. My Mum used to tell me that a TV was wheeled into the Maternity Ward of her Hospital, in North London, so she and the other mothers could watch, although my screaming interfered with the sound !
I thought it rather strange when the Queen thought it unusual to have witnessed two Coronations.

Surely Prince William will be able to say the same, and his successor and onwards.

I didn't really think her comments about her kids playing with her train was really necessary.

Betty can be a bit of a sourpuss at times. She must be the scariest person in the world to interview !
Which two did the Queen witness aog ?
She observed one and was the recipient of another.
She only witnessed one, that of her father, unless she meant foreign coronations.
She wasn't paying attention on her own coronation
George VI may have observed two, Edward VII and his father, George V, plus his own.
''..on her own coronation''

at her own coronation
I didn't watch the programme, but I saw it was referred to as " a conversation" as the queen does not " give interviews" .:-+
The coronation was televised in black and white (no other option then) but was filmed in colour, which is where the clips came from.
