the topic is football towns although i have noticed from my answers that football cities have been included too, i am stuck on three:

[1] Flooded river over crossing point we hear [7 letters]

[2] Mr Miranda met the short officer in Norway [7 letters]

[3] Sophie, Claudia and Elspeth at school here [10 letters]

any help would be appreciated

thanks, jj, i'm sorry to say i had not heard of him, i googled miranda but all that came up was a prisoner of some sort and then i googled miranda hart but her husband's name did not fit in anywhere, the two remaining questions are very difficult to get your teeth into as well, i know all the names of the football clubs having been a supporter for many years now but find these two clues baffling no 1 could be watford or maybe salford but i can't align them with the clues apart from ford being a river crossing point

3 The school could be Cheltenham Ladies College; Cheltenham is a league football team; but I don' t see what the significance of those three names is.
