I have heard a rumour going around that the quarter of a million pounds has been won some time ago , but for reasons best known to themselves the promoters have not yet shown it ..
Anybody know if there is any truth in it?

I think they are saving it up for a christmas special...or something! I suspect it's an attempt to build tension into what essentially is just a guessing game. Despite Noel Edmunds best efforts to suggest there is some kind of strategy to the game, it is clearly the luck of the draw. Still, I suspect it finds the audience it deserves.
I saw an interview with Noel on telly during the summer, and he confirmed that someone had won it, and that we'd see that programme sometime before end of year. So my bet is (as gammaray says) they'll show it sometime over Christmas.
Yes , I'm sure he said on the Johnathan Ross show that it had been won and would be shown by October.
Presumably they have decided to hold it back for whatever reason.
But surely an avid viewer would notice if any contestants suddenly disapeared, ie. by not showing certain episodes.

By the way, I know you're not supposed to start a sentence with But or And. But I'm not at school anymore. And I don't care.
Good point , you're right , I think it would have been noticed if they'd skipped an episode. But I expect you knew that.

A while ago I noticed that a old man suddenly dissappeared overnight on it, channel four said it was because he had "health problems".
I think you mean Joseph. He did disappear but then came back and had his show.
