It all depends on whether your set top box has an RF out (Aerial) socket - if it has - connect it to the TV via this way.

If it has the small red/yellow/white plugs on your TV then you can buy a scart to video/phono cable and connect it this way.

But otherwise if it's just scart on the back of the box - your stuffed without buying other quite technical equipment to do the job !!
Hi, I'd guess u need this...
3m aerial ext lead 2:99 Argos page 356 cat no 534/2804.
Connect the freeview box and tv with it (rf in, rf out) then switch both on, tune your tv until you find signal from the freeview box. The freeview should have a diagram sheet with it to help you along. Hope u get there!

I've tried it all nothing wants to work!! maybe its because i'm female!
Because you are not connecting with a scart lead, sometimes the signal from the box is hard to find. you may need to find a signal of some sort, perhaps a blurry image or grainy one, then fine tune the tv, that is, once you're near what you think is the signal use the tv fine tuner for more delicate pinpointing of the signal. Don't forget to save your setting. If you have a tv tuner sheet use that to get an idea on how to tune. Good luck.
