Kids programme

When I was a child in the early eighties I remember watching a programme which was set in a wood. Somebody used to sit on a log that was cut off to provide a flat surface and they used to put magnetic letters on to spell out a story and they used to then tell that story. Does anybody know what it was called?. Thanks.
