who thinks the storyline in corrie re Shaun and Violet is tacky in the extreme. Is it not trivialising the sancity of marriage , ie, the purpose of going foward to multiply.
Or is it just a silly soap.

It was like one of those old Rock Hudson movies where they cut to the trees blowing in the breeze, did they use a turkey baster a la the ruskie lesbian?

Not too sure about the baster, ughh the mind boggles.
i think its hot!!!!!!!!!!
marriage doesn't enter into it - the purpose of multiplying is not marriage.

having babies is just nature, marriage is an invented and outdated institution
You're really talking about two separate things.Marriage and procreation are not inextricably linked.Marrriage CAN lead to procreation, and vice versa, but the former is not necessary for the latter.Marriage is an institution created by religions and society. The nuclear family is no longer the norm and to penalise anyone for not conforming to it would be ridiculous.
I agree with Marwel - you can easily do one without the other and I dont really see the link although I respect some people do see it like that but thankfully its not like that anymore in society generally.

I dont know why Corrie want to tackle it really as it is difficult to do well - I read that they originally were going to have Violets character as gay so the story line would still be the same I suppose.

more sickening is that Liz affair with that creepy bloke in the flat who delivers to rovers
